Why is it called Atlas Psychotherapy?
The noun "Atlas" has come to refer to many things: a mountain range in Africa, a map of the world, a star system in the pleiadian star cluster, and - most importantly - the Greek Titan who was given the punishment of holding up the weight of the heavens on his shoulders.
For many of us, it can feel just like we are taking on Atlas' task; carrying a great burden on our shoulders that, should we shrug it off, will lead to the suffering of many. This practice was created so that those who feel they carry the weight of the world or the heavens might have a map, a guiding star, to help them lay down the mountainous weight that they have placed upon them; to allow them to be human in a world where we are often expected to be a God.
